I personally despise PIPs they are a joke because managers use them to terminate employees and never do their part in coaching.

Agreed. It's a way to create a paper trail to termination.

I agree!!! I couldn't have said it better myself.

I had one because my manager changed her mind HOURLY, angry I couldn't keep up (financial analysis) and had someone in a DIFFERENT DEPARTMENT in a DIFFERENT ROLE write up new instructions for me to follow verbatim. Then I was told work was incorrect: goodbye!!!!

I've landed in a much better opportunity.

Totally agree. I have seen and experienced them being used when there is absolutely nothing against you in your work history so they just make shit up. I literally had a supervisor ages ago who after 5 years of glowing reviews (after her supervisor after one encounter with me decided I needed to go-it was some racist stuff) and salary increases literally said to me, "I can put you on a PIP, but you'll be let go regardless". LOL! I lawyered up. I won.

Agreed! I have yet to see them done with the real intention of helping an employee improve. If you get one, it probably has nothing to do with your actual performance and more about a threatened manager with personal issues wanting to fire you but needing a paper trail to justify it.

In my situation: ding, ding, ding!! Management hired me mid-interview for my talents and 6m later WITH successful projects, I'm no longer "a suitable employee"?

Intimidation ESPECIALLY because I was able to transfer and 2nd manager loved me. (I since left organization)

I don't 100% agree. But I suppose it's more company dependent on how they are handled. I have seen very successful turnarounds with a PIP.
