Hello!

Hello!

I’m an International Student currently working as a Marketing Technical Manager, AI at HubSpot. Unfortunately my OPT period is about to expire in July and I did not get the H-1B lottery.

I’m currently in process of applying for EB-1A visa.

As an alternative, I am also looking for jobs in companies that would accept Day-1 CPT as work authorization.

I would really appreciate any opportunity to feature myself, reference letters for EB-1A or a job position.

Thank you

If you’re still a student go to your university’s career center and ask they help you with internship or full-time searches (if you graduated). If in the U.S. look at your career center’s recruiting site to find another internship. In addition, LinkIn with alums who may have been on OPT too and reach out for guidance and networking.

It is not up to the company to decide whether or not your status allows you to work. It is up to immigration law to determine each visa status. I am unfamiliar with all the different visas and what you can and cannot do with each, but if your visa is about to expire, and your H-1B did not go through, you are right to be looking for alternative statuses. Employers cannot hire someone unless the visa explicitly allows them to work. Good luck. I really hope something comes through for you.

Unfortunately, you are likely to have a tough time finding new sponsorship at this time. An EB1 is a rather tough visa to obtain so if you actually qualify for that, kudos to you. I am curious how you go from OPT to EB-1.
