As someone who’s only been in the job market for 3 years, it gets super confusing to hear about all of these unwritten industry rules. Obviously we get interview training in college. But since graduating I learned about post-interview thank you notes and follow ups. That still confuses me.
Do you always have to follow up? How soon after submitting should I follow up? What do I say? What do I ask?
Not to mention changing your resume for every application. And then cover letters. Do we still add addresses to cover letters? What happens if I write the wrong recipient down? What if I can’t find name of the intended recipient?
How long have I been doing things the wrong way? ?
