I started a new job a few months ago.

I started a new job a few months ago. However, I received a call yesterday from a potential employer to which I applied months ago asking if I was interested in interviewing. At the time, I wasn't working and applying everywhere. The job sounds really interesting. Should I take the interview?

Personally, I take every interview I can get and view them all as a good way to practice/stay current. I also really like to get a face-to-face with someone to get a better feel for the company. You never know, the job may turn out to be better than you expected, or you may get offered something different that's a higher level/pay (I've had that happen before).

No harm in interviewing if you are interested. Interviewing doesn't mean they are definitely offering the job or that you will even end up wanting it after getting more details. If I were you, I would probably always wonder "what if" if I turned the interview down.

There's really no risk to taking the interview, assuming you are discreet about it. No employer likes it when a new employee continues to interview. Just be aware that should you take the position and leave your current one, you likely have burned that bridge.

Yes! It won’t hurt to learn more about the opportunity. The fact that you are currently in a role you like means if the new company wants you they will understand they will need to give you a really good offer.

1000%! An interview is not a commitment! Even if you don't get the role or end up wanting to pursue it more, you might even learn something or meet someone who can help you grow even more.

Go! Do the interview! See what happens. If you don't get it, no harm no foul, but what if you do? In today's job market, take it if you can! Nothing in this life is guaranteed. Congratulations!

Never turn down an interview, regardless of whether you're actively looking or not. It's always a good opportunity to practice your interviewing skills at the very least.

    Hell Yeah take the interview!

I agree with all the commenters, take that interview. Might even give you additional perspective of the pros and cons of your current job and if the potential employer is still interesting as you originally thought.

It depends. Are you willing to leave your current employer, even if you haven't been there long? Yes, interview. Interviewing is like dating. There's no real commitment until you decide to be committed. Take the interview and if you get an offer, make sure it will be long term, better pay and benefits and suits your lifestyle better. Good luck and keep us posted!

If you're curious about the potential job, why not take the interview?

It’s a great opportunity to learn more about the role, the company, and whether it aligns with your interests and goals. If the position turns out to offer better pay, opportunities to develop new skills, or exposure to a different industry, you can decide after the first interview if you want to continue with the process.

There’s no harm in doing a first interview—it’s not a commitment to the job, just a chance to explore the opportunity.

Yes employers are not loyal to employees. If it turns out to be a better opportunity and they offer you the job take it

YES! Take the interview, find out more before you close the door on n opportunity. Taking the interview doesn’t mean leaving your current role.
