My manager called me in for a "routine" meeting.

My manager called me in for a "routine" meeting. (RN in a intensely busy clinic setting) I am only in month 6 of this new job and I absolutely hate it. I am doing everything I can to find something new in the company. She asked how I thought things could improve and I shared that I believed that if the schedule was laid out the night before and that the lead RN took a few patients things would be smoother... Fast forward a few days and I am back in my manager's office. I guess the "lead" took my feedback poorly. She wrote me a 3 page email detailing my failings. She has kept notes on me. When I use my cell phone, go to the bathroom, quotes how long I am gone for lunch (32 minutes once I guess). The email was horrible. I went to HR and I am waiting for a response.

My manager said that the letter was under her review and that the lead may "need some coaching" on her approach. But now I am afraid to go back to work (not afraid of this wingnut lead) But I am a novice and this clinic is really intense with of high-risk meds and high-risk patients. She said I ask too many questions and miss orders because I am "preoccupied"

I have one job I am waiting on and one that won't even finish interviewing for for 3 weeks... Do I have any way of just taking a leave? The email was slanderous and psychotic.

If you have any PTO saved up, you can probably take a few days, but you are most likely under the time required for any protected leave, like FMLA.

I have 200 hours of PTO. I also have some extended sick leave. (maybe I feel covid coming on?) but I am sure I am not protected by FMLA... :)

just started doing this. Not sure how it has come to it but I will have to proactively protect myself.

Anyone who's paying that much attention to when you go to the bathroom . . .. just WTAF!!!

When you quit, you need to blast Sting/The Police's "I'll be watching you!"

It sounds extremely stressful. Go to the doctor and see if you can get a stress leave and take some time to get out of there with out causing harm to yourself or the wacko lead RN. That will give you time to get another job.

I have a plan for some days off and a way to burn up some sick leave... fingers crossed because it could buy me some time to just recover from the crazy.

I would have to pull some "petty patty" choices and overwhelm her with "micro-reporting" Meaning I would send her a message/chat/text each time I was going to the restroom, going out for lunch and returning. If I was stopped with a question by a patient's family, I would send her a message to let her know. I would also let her know each time I needed to use the phone, etc...

I hope you get the new position you want but if this woman feels like she has shaken you, just like a bully, she will continue.

I moved offices upstairs when I got my position and someone commented saying "since XXX has taken her throne, yadda yadda yadda..." My petty self bought a pageant crown and wore it the rest of the week. It got the point across that I knew what was said and I could play the same games.

Good luck. I hope things get better for you!

I am a fan of this. I am heading into work today and I think this is great.

She has done something similar. The other nurse had to change campuses and her name is "cursed" lol... I have never met her but they talk about how terrible she was. So now I feel like she was probably amazing and bullied to death... And, I am taking my own little notebook to work today! great idea:)

This was such a kind reply. I appreciate it so very much... It has been super rough.
