There are "better" options out there. Most of those types of other options I see are for lower pay. I will look into other employment options if it get too bad. Currently looking into my spending to compensate in case I need to make a switch.

It’s natural to question whether where you are aligns with where you want to be. Feeling like there’s something “better” out there can be unsettling, but it’s also an opportunity for self-reflection.

Take a moment to identify what’s really missing.

Once you’ve gotten clear on that, you can decide whether to address the gaps where you are or explore new opportunities.

It’s part of everyone’s journey, and you’re not alone. Just go ahead.

Laid off from my position of almost 18 years in Septmber 2024. Had also lost a faith in my company several years ago, but I would suggest keeping employed. Never been without work before and it is terrible.

I think changing my mind set completely did away with the expectation of personal care in an entity.

I took the approach long ago that a company is not a partner or friend. I "Use" my employers the same way they use me. It's a transaction. I give them excellent work, in exchange they give me a paycheck, benefits, bonus etc. If the company acts in bad faith I take action. I either leave, sue, withdraw or diminish my effort etc.

If offered a better "trade" I leave. I do assume good faith like I do any deal I enter into but I also stay alert to the signs of bad faith so I can take action. I try my best to pick my partners wisely but stuff happens. I also keep several "deals" going at any given time so I have the flexibility to leave at any given time to limit my exposure.

It sounds harsh but it provides me with clear boundaries and allows me to save my personal investment of caring and personal commitments for people in my life.

The grass is always greener as they say. Perhaps it’s your department or the company’s leadership. Either way figure out what you don’t like, what can you change and if you can’t make any change you can look elsewhere. I think many would agree no place is the best. I tolerate where I am due to WFH option of a couple days a week. Get to know others and listen what others are saying. You don’t necessarily need to be a part of gossip but listening and watching other’s may prove you are not alone there. Many times it takes change of your surroundings to better your circumstances. Maybe it’s time for you to explore other jobs.

There is nothing wrong with making the leap to see . I am finding that it is easier in this current job market for those who have jobs vs those who don't .
