How long between the final interview and response?

How long between the final interview and response?

I had two final interviews. The first was on Monday and the second was on Tuesday. It is now Friday and I have not heard back. Previously, I have always had a verbal offer or been turned down quickly, like 24-48 hours. But if I have not heard back by now have I been ghosted? Does it just take a while longer these days? I have gone back to the job search with the assumption I did not get these jobs, but I am VERY anxious.

Your anxiety is valid but as the other poster pointed out, this is not the usual job market and the fact that they moved so quickly to interview you is unusual and a good sign. Did they tell you they'd get back to you this week? If not, you need to wait it out. If you haven't heard from them in two more weeks also not a lot of time) then I'd reach out to HR and ask if they can give you an update. 99% of the time, when they tell you they're in a hurry to hire someone, they still don't move quickly. Try and be patient. If you contact them now, you'll look needy, which won't help you when it's time to negotiate your salary.

Things are moving much slower these days. Depending on the number of finalists. It can take anywhere from 5 days to 3 weeks

Keep up your search while you wait. Good luck! You are fortunate.

I would not be surprised if it takes a week or two, especially in a larger corporation. There are levels of approvals & sign offs that have to happen then the compensation has to be agreed upon before the offering letter can be issued. I would say if you haven't heard by the next Friday, touch base with your recruiter/interviewer.

Did you send a thank you note? I always reply to a candidates note, and generally I try to get back in touch with folks in a week.

It's just not over till the company gets through all their other potential hires for this role. Best when moving ahead is always ask the steps and how many are being considered directly to the employer early in the process and every during the process ask those questions again as things may shift depending upon the candidate flow, quality of candidates and changes the hiring manager or company may make through the process. Then you can never (or almost never) be unaware of where you stand. Let them know they are not the only company you are wooing and that you too will keep them informed of changes in your search. If you don't do these things you won't have what you need for decision time. Good luck and hopefully you hear from them soon. If not drop a note let them know you expect another company is moving on you soon and you'd like to know if they are still considering you, and if not please let you know.

The company will keep all potential candidates in a "pending status" until the have their top candidate identified, negotiated and accepted. This can take weeks or even months. It's never quick these days so keep your options open and keep interviewing until you have accepted a written offer and have a firm start date.

Yes!!!! It's NEVER a "yes" until an offer extended.

Some organizations take forever and sometimes the best person has moved on (unable or unwilling ro wait)

Yes. The hiring process is completely broken. Most places set up multiple interviews, between 3 and 5, which are generally spread over the course of 8 weeks.

    Short answer?

    It depends.

Schedules of interviews, upper management, last-minute fires, holidays, weather, etc..... My current role, I had to wait through Christmas and NY holidays then a freak snowstorm. I'm always an anxious person, this didn't help! Lol!!! From the time of online application (two days to respond) to starting- 2 months. Includes 2 interviews, offer, background check with 2w notice included. 12/8 to 2/12. In the meantime, I interviewed 3 other places that HORRIBLE (ok on paper) holding out and currently working.

Stay active (professionally and politely check in weekly) and keep looking elsewhere until you get the affirmation somewhere. I later met recruiter and he said it was refreshing having someone stay in contact that genuinely wanted the opportunity (I wanted to stay on radar, not be a nag)

I wish I had a magic answer, I'd use it on myself!! :)
