I am currently employed and looking for another position. I am worried that posting my resume on job boards may be seen by hr staff at my current company. Is this a valid concern?

You can always apply without your current employer knowing.

You can set as private on some of the sites so your current company cannot see it. Also, on LinkedIn add your resume to your profile and there should also be a setting that doesn’t allow the current employer to see you’re seeking. Go to your profile and look under Settings. As I tell everyone, we came from somewhere we will go somewhere. I also put mine out there so people know better what I do. And of course for interested parties in me. Good luck!

keeping your resume updated and posting for other jobs is the norm these days. What’s the worst that could happen if a colleague sees it? It’s a healthy thing to do in my opinion. It’s bad form to tell people you work with that you’re doing it though. Good luck.

This is a valid concern. I addressed this by keeping my resume private and reaching out to other companies.
