Hi All,

Hi All,

I was politically targeted in my job as I had raised my voice against a senior who was due for promotion. He used to yell on the team when everyone was working 16 hrs per day to meet deadlines even on things which didn't matter. I had started having mental health issues and took a sabbatical leave post my return I learnt he was not able to manage the project and had put the entire blame on me. He went to HR also saying that I went on sabbatical without informing him when everything is documented. Last 6 months have been a nightmare to work through the system. One well wisher told me that I could be fired and I resigned finally. I have a notice period of 3 months as per my contract. Can the company reduce this to bring down their cost? Or they are bonded by the law to pay me for the 3 months? I need to hunt for another job so I need those 3 months for the same.

I'm sorry this happened but what did you expect the outcome to be? Did you think that HR would rescind the promotion because you spoke up about this person yelling at the team? It's not illegal to be an asshole, unfortunately.

No one on this board can tell if your contract is enforceable without looking at it. Contact an employment attorney if you need help sorting through the terms.

Agreed - assholes tend to hold some of the highest positions.

had I seen this prior to your resignation- I’d have suggested he look at your employee manual where it outlines you did precisely what the company complies with. If you get any mistreatment after that, I’d suggest to see a lawyer (free consultation)

    Wishing you the best
