Does anyone want to share your experience finding a GOOD job that lasted years and years?

Not necessarily a dream job, but a job that paid well, treated you respectfully and allowed you to work with pride. Oh and have a true work life balance, so that you could raise your children and pursue interests in peace. I am looking for realistic life inspiration for myself!

Unfortunately I haven’t found this yet, but aspire to. However, all of my friends and family who work in healthcare seem to have this full package.

That lasted years and years? No I've never heard of one. The ones that last years and years are safety nets that usually don't pay anywhere near top market value but provide some sense of security. There's always a trade off.

I'm sure there are some out there...but I think these days what you are describing is rare indeed. Companies that previously provided that luxury, they aren't the same anymore - if they are around at all.

When I was a divorced parents of two teenagers, I had a full-time job teaching at a career college. It had its challenges and I had to teach some night classes, but overall, it was wonderful. They were kind enough not to give me mid-afternoon classes so I could pick up my kids from school and give them an early dinner before going back to work. It paid enough that we had what we needed and could sometimes go out to dinner etc. Most importantly, I made some lifelong friends at that job and my friends supported me emotionally when times were tough. I don't know that any employer is perfect, but there really are some good ones out there. I worked there for almost 12 years (until the whole college closed).

I actually found my current job (been here 6 years now!) through a random chat on Facebook Marketplace of all places. I was buying a used desk and ended up talking to the seller, who mentioned their company was hiring. Took a chance, applied, and it turned out to be the best decision I ever made. Sometimes opportunities really do show up in the most unexpected places.
