Had the highest-level interview of my career…what I thought was a first round was actually the only meeting before the final decision.

I treated the meet and greet with the hiring manager like a full interview and didn’t leave anything in the table.

I was the first interview so I need to wait to hear back after the rest of candidate. . I wanted to share my experience as I was caught off guard especially with the long interview processes I’ve had at other organizations.

Don’t waste any opportunity to sell yourself and demonstrate your experience / what you’d bring to the table. Good luck to my fellow job searchers.

Do check out the company to be sure that this is really one you would like to work for. Especially look at the financial health and any employee reviews. This could be a legitimate company, but it may pay to be sure that the person you interviewed with really does work for the company. If all of this checks out, you could be in a good situation; I have just experienced some that sound like this and are scams, so beware and do your homework.

Thank you and it was a legitimate interview. I researched the company and me with the person I'd report to....it was a good interview but I was shocked to hear that was the one and only round. I'd report to that hiring manager so it would be his decision but when I started the interview, I thought the meet and greet would be more of a decision to move forward to a full interview rather than the final round.

I sent a thank you note, reiterated why I would be the right fit and added in a few follow-up notes regarding skills required for the role that we didn't discuss. I'm hopeful but it would be jumping a few levels and while excited about the opportunity, being realistic as well.
