I was recently contacted by HR of a major firm within my industry to interview for a role that I knew I was not qualified. After a pre-screen call, I was still encouraged to apply despite my input on not having the right level of experience. As I expected, the hiring manager and I both agreed it wasn’t a good fit. He stated that there positions I would be better suited. The HR contact only handles a portion of open positions, but I did send a thank you note and asked to be considered for other roles where I am better suited. I applied for a post through LinkedIn a few days ago with the same company where I have direct experience. I received a rejection letter today. This job market is very confusing. I receive rejection letter after rejection letter for positions where I’m well qualified and am frequently sought out for positions where I’m overqualified or not a good fit. I suppose it’s a numbers game and a matter of good fortune. Trying to stay motivated ???
