Hi!

Hi!

I'm looking to switch from lab bench work to project management or lab management. What kind of things should I include on my resume to make that jump?

Focus on the projects rather than the science. Don't include mention of things like PCR or other specific tasks unless they have a real relevance to the job under discussion. Lay people (even semi-science people who are hiring for an admin role) neither understand nor care about your scientific specialty. That's the biggest mistake I've sent in interviews with lab folks who want to get out of the lab. And it always ends with a discussion among the interview panel members about whether this person will settle into/thrive/stay in an admin role. Typically the decision is no.

I would talk to people that are in project/lab management jobs - or hiring for them and get their POV
