I have been looking for 6 months after taking the DRP from federal government. I estimate I have submitted over 200 applications- tailoring resumes, writing cover letters, having recruiters and hiring managers review my resume and job fit. I have networked, paid a recruiter and joined a job search council. I have optimized my LinkedIn profile, created a digital portfolio, and earned certifications. I have received well over 100 auto rejections, and have not been selected for positions where I screened or screened and interviewed.. But getting an interview is very nearly impossible. I live in California and many companies are leaving as remote works becomes less common- and I cannot relocate. Yes it is most definitely a horrific job market.

Try doing temp work until you can find a new role. Volunteer in a charity where they might possibly have internal roles upcoming. Government employees definitely got the shaft so I feel for you but don't give up! Make connections go to job fairs and be seen. Good luck.

What job title are you applying for?

It's a tough job market out there but there are some options depending on what you are looking for. Let me know and I'll see if anyone in my network is hiring.

Please hang in there! Your job IS out there! Please remember that God can move a mountain when we can't even move our feet! God loves you, and so do I!

All you can do is all you can do. Don't feel at all guilty signing up for government assistance or help from a charity if you need it.

Agree, job market is horrid. I'm also in California. Laid off in March. Had some interviews the first couple of months, but one was way low pay, and the other two hired from within. It's a very difficult job market. ?

I've been keeping busy figuring out Medicare, etc. Ugh... was planning to work at least another 5-7 years.
