No. I refuse to do these. Nothing good will come from it. If its a legitimate job, poor management

I did a recorded video interview where I had limited time to answer questions.

Those are a hard no from me. I refused to do them as a candidate, don't use them as a recruiter.

Could you say more about why you don't use them as a recruiter? I'm curious to hear the other side's perspective on this as a job seeker.

Well, first of all, I want to talk to my candidates. Second, I know candidates - speaking from personal experience - hate them. They do not make for a good candidate experience.

As a candidate, I always thought if you're interested in me, TALK to me.

And mostly because the interview process should be a two way street. Not only do I want to speak with candidates, I want to make sure they have an opportunity to ask questions and find out whatever information they need to be able to make a decision on if they want to move forward with the opportunity.

They're just a no from me for every possible reason.

I know a significant number of companies who use hirevue for virtual recorded interviews and have worked with a number of job seekers who have to complete a hirevue as the first step in the interviewing process. My advice, if you choose to do the recorded interview is to prepare like you would for an in person interview and then practice, especially with timing for the recorded portion. Hirevue and some other platforms will let you practice within their systems which can be good to get more comfortable with it.

I feel like this subject just popped up last week. I have done two in the last 10 years. Learned my lesson. Will decline any requests like this in the future and withdraw my candidacy.

I've done a handful, primarily during the pandemic.

I used it as an opportunity to enhance my virtual/recording skills. Some companies use software that allows you to prepare/re-record. Some don't. I never went into these experiences expecting a job (and not one landed an interview), but I found it to be interesting to experience the technology (esp. because I work in HR and Sales---so I wanted to become familiar with the user experience). Some companies just like using new tools and you're the guinea pig. Before you do it, I'd recommend searching the tech company behind the scenes and the fine print (esp. about possibility of using identity in future). Good luck.

Yes. This was before the pandemic. They're not bad. If you remain calm and look and sound professional you'll do just fine. Just think of it as a regular interview

I would never agree to a one way interview where they video me. I don’t know how this is even legal. I would not want my video floating around any company especially if I did not do well.

    Not to mention, on YouTube.

    These video interviews disgust me.

I have never got a live interview after a video screen. Seems maybe good for really high volume hiring. Also super high tech companies just like to use technology whenever possible, value add or not.

Zero additional value. Got turned down once because my voice wasn't professional enough (??) I talked in a normal, conversational voice to a machine.

I'm thankful I was turned down. Ugh, no thanks--

Or both. I'd work temporarily at Walmart before I'd work at a place like this.

I applied for a SENIOR ACCOUNTANT position and the only option was recorded interview.

I immediately declined. Upper level management dealing with this?? Don't say "screening mechanism ". A person can pick up the phone and screen me.

    I never looked back.

    LAZY ORGANIZATIONS and/or SCAM.

Plus, recording a "yes" for fraudulent measures. No thanks. I'll pass.

Nope I immediately decide that's not the role for me at that moment and click the x.

    Yes. I didn't like it.
