I know the feeling.

I know the feeling. I had a great call with a Recruiting Coordinator who loved my resume and my LI profile. Said she contacted me to see if I knew someone interested in the role she was promoting. Then said she realized this would be great for me. Moved me to the senior recruiter who agreed, we had a great conversation, I was able to address all of her questions . Said she would set me up with the hiring manager....It's a full week with no response to my "touching base" email. At this point I would even be ok with a pre-written thanks but no thanks email. It's been rough!

Sadly, this happens all the time. I was told I would be a "perfect fit" and a "unicorn" for a senior role but then when it got to the point I would have met with the hiring manager, I was ghosted. It is my understanding that recruiters often prepare a list of shortlisted candidates and then the hiring manager decides who they want to interview. Depending on the hiring manager, they may go with the recruiter recommendations or not. My guess is that the hiring manager decided to interview other people but they are not cutting you loose in case the hiring manager doesn't like any of their first picks. Or you were just ghosted because recruiters are swamped. Either way, I am sorry it happened to you. It sucks when you get excited about a role and then crickets.

Ghosting is pretty common. So is "loving your resume and LI profile".

Now these things take time. Also the switching of roles usually mean at a lower comp package so just an fyi.
