Seasons Greetings all!

Seasons Greetings all! Question. I interviewed for a job with my DREAM organization. I made it to the final round of interviews, which was with the hiring manager's leadership. The interview went well, in my opinion. I made sure to send a thank you email to my interviewers, immediately following the interview. The last interview was on 12/10. The hiring manager said that he wants to fill the position before Xmas so I sent a follow up to the hiring manager on 12/19 just to check on the progress. Realistically, should I wait until after the new year to follow up again, if I don’t hear anything or should I just except the fact that the position may have been filled. I have the recruiter’s email as well, I don’t want to be “off putting” by sending more than one “follow up” email, especially during the holiday. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

dont send any more emails. you've sent two now..it's been Christmas and then New Years....too much going on and often, these decisions (no matter WHAT they tell you on an interview) are delayed. Been there/done that. If they want you, they want you...but more emails won't help expedite a decision and might even hurt a bit. Patience.

    Thank you so much.

Don't wait around for an answer. Keep applying at other companies.

Until you hear definitively that the position has been filled, consider yourself still in the running. I would follow after the new year's holiday and everyone is back from their break. Just keep looking in the meantime good luck!

To understand, you sent an email to all interviewers and an email separate to the person over hiring managers, right? I’m a former recruiter. Still in helping others engage/get hired. Send an email to your recruiter (are they internal or a staffing firm)? If staffing, they are also looking for movement as that’s how they get paid. Either way, send a final email today to your recruiter reiterating your appreciation in assisting you in the hiring process, mention your continued interest, and end with happy holidays happy new year then wait until 1/6 to follow up. I think you will hear something soon! There are work days in the month, staffing doesn’t sleep, they thrive on placements and meeting metrics, especially month end. But internal TA’s in HR are not in sales as staffing recruiters are so they are bound by their leadership pretty much.

So I sent separate thank you emails to the hiring manager, after our initial interview and thank you emails to the hiring manager’s leadership. I only sent one “follow up” email to the hiring manager, last week.

Then send a final one to the recruiter as mentioned with the suggested wording, You did all the right things and are keeping yourself relevant. Keep us posted! Fingers crossed for you!

Definitely follow up with another Email.

Update: they reached out and I they moved forward with another candidate. The recruiter said that the managers had great things to say about me. Honestly, I’m just happy that I’ve had an opportunity to interview for this company.

So sorry you didn’t get this one but glad you heard back. Keep applying for future jobs with the same company and hopefully another opportunity will open.

It's not only the holidays but the end of the year reports etc. You have a lot of people that are involved in a hire and not everyone is available.

Let's face it. HR does not have good manners and consideration when following up with people. Many don't even get back to you to tell you that you did NOT get it. They practically invented ghosting.

You either got the job or you didn't, and there is nothing you can do about that. Keep looking for a job, follow-up on your schedule in the New Year and maybe you'll be pleasantly surprised.

Yes, wait until the end of the first week in the New Year and then reach out if you have heard nothing. Wish them a happy New Year and ask if their timeline has shifted so that you can continue on your search if need be.

Things may be slowing down during that period. You can check after first week of January. Check with your recruiter and hold off on more follow-up emails to the interviewers.

okay. But I must say that I admire your attitude. If the manager spoke highly of you, must mean that you’ve left quite an impression.

You had a great interview with your dream company. That's a huge step, congratulations!! I would follow up with the hiring managers and say that you understand they went in another direction, but to pleas keep you in mind if other opportunities come up

OP above, write them back and say this. Send to the recruiter and the HM as well. I appreciate your getting back to me and hope you will keep me in consideration for other roles that become available where my skills align. I'm sure you had great choices this time through, and that you chose a terrific hire for the role, I can only hope to have the good fortune to work with you in the future. Sincerely, X

A warm response will keep you top of mind for next time!
