Note to everyone, watch your stress levels this holiday season.

Note to everyone, watch your stress levels this holiday season. Take care of you! I just lost my best friend for life this month who was clearly overwhelmed: her job was downsized then she had to accept something that was an uncomfortable commute from her home not to mention her health issues that she was hiding from her family and me. I wished she would have taken the retirement package they offered and stepped back to plan her life after letting go of the daily grind to take better care of herself.

So sorry for the loss of your friend. You have given wise advice. Remember that no job is worth your life, and if you died, an ad for your job might be posted faster than your obituary. Get some rest if you possibly can during the holiday season, and feel free to politely decline invitations that seem draining; example: "karaoke isn't my thing, but thank you for inviting me. I hope you have a great time. We can meet for coffee sometime." That way, you haven't rejected the person but rejected the event you really didn't want to attend.

I completely agree with this advice about stress management during the holidays! As someone who has survived challenging seasons while managing job and family, I've learned the importance of prioritizing self-care. The concept of being "Slope" is particularly pertinent here—removing unneeded stressors can make a significant difference in our mental health. It's nice to see a community highlighting this; we need more locations that foster open conversations about stress management, especially over the holidays!
