Gossippy woman is manager?

Gossippy woman is manager?

Two people in my group were recently promoted and they both gossip and make up lies about others. It is petty and shows their insecurities. I am looking for other opportunities because some of the gossip is about me. I regret accepting a position there and had no way to know that this was happening. How do I get out gracefully? I keep doing my job and I do not engage with them except for when it is work related. I hope others are aware of this behavior, but no indication of that. I can't be the only one who notices this. I feel isolated and targeted.

You get out gracefully by continuing to do what you are doing.

You are doing everything right. All you need to do is do your job to the best of your ability and stay out of workplace shenanigans. What usually happens with people who "climb the ladder" like this is they miss a rung and end up falling off. The only question is how long it takes upper management to notice and make corrections. That probably isn't worth waiting for, so good luck with your job search.

Pls don't take this advice and report these people that gossip to HR. Def NOT their role to help grown professional adults sort through personality conflicts. This will backfire.

Gossip is only bad if it hurts others. Plus if you're not being talked to, then you're being talked about. So be more social towards them, talk with them, work with them. But if it becomes gossipy, where it's mean spirited about others, don't engage. Just say, I don't have much to say about that, or I can't help you with that. Anyway, I wanted to ask you if you had the report from... turn the gossip into a work-related question. Don't feel isolated, as you're not part of the gossip cliche. I'm not that interesting is what I tell people. If they want to talk about you let them. Be a person of mystery like me. Our director makes up sh*t and if she doesn't know she'll make it up, so when she says something incorrect about me in front of others I'll say, actually, that's not true. It shuts them up and shuts them down. They are not your friends anymore than my director is to me.

How do you get out gracefully? You don't join in any gossip, you clear your desk and leave on your own timing. You don't discuss the issue and you wish everyone well. That's grace.
