Job post keeps reposting

Job post keeps reposting

I applied for a position with a company, and the recruiter forwarded my info to the department and said the department would be in touch within a few weeks. Well, I keep seeing the job post taken off and reposted. Thoughts? I checked the website to see if I was still a candidate, and I was, so why would the employer keep taking off the job post and reposting it weeks later (this is twice that’s happened where the post gets taken down and reposted).

Did you notice any changes in the post? If you see this again, take a screen shot and compare it to the original post. And ask the recruiter as you were curious why it was re-posted. Then listen very carefully to red flags. Is she pausing is she trying to cover and find a reason? If so, withdraw yourself and look elsewhere. Now, if it's a state job, this happens often. But corporate, I find that odd.

The job boards will give you free postings to renew the posting date so the company will keep posting the position until they have made an offer and it was accepted. My current job stayed posted for 3.

    months after I started.

Job boards also need to appear very fresh to candidates.

Yes, there are so many things going on behind the scenes. You never can predict these things. So many things have to come together perfectly to fill a job.

Candidly, most HR departments and staffing agencies these days are trying to do everything on the cheap. Poor quality HR and staffing agency employees simply don't give a darn. If the job is filled, they simply cannot be bothered to take down the job from the job site. In the end, the company's and staffing agency's reputation is going to be tarnished for several years to come.

Just email HR!!!!!! There’s no rule against it. It will take a minute. They will respond. Many times HR has said oh I will get back to you by xyz. They don’t, I follow up, they answer immediately. Just email and say the department hasn’t been in touch, are you still in the running. They will either say they hired someone or give a nudge to the department to get back to you. Following up shows communication, protectiveness, and interest in the role and company.

With AI people are flooding job openings with hundreds of CVs and resumes. I would make direct contact as others have suggested..

Most ATS (applicant tracking systems) have automatic reposts built in. Don't think too deeply into this. It generally will refresh so that if they are still taking applications it shows up higher in the views on all 3rd party websites and posting places. It is a feature so that the manual labor of a recruiter or recruiting assistant doesn't spend their days doing this one by one.
