Great team but it's time to move on to the next opportunity. It's bittersweet

ive been doing a 4 hr (round Trip ) commute 3 days/week since I started my current role over a year ago.Its been a great opportunity learning and it's a great team but I'm officially drained. I took the role hoping for flexibility at a closer site but with the in office/ location mandate it's not possible. I ultimately realized that it's not just the commute the job is draining as well especially since it's not a role I see myself in long-term.I feel guilty for my decision even though I know I need to move forward with a new opportunity

Guilty about what? Wanting what's best for you? Wanting a job you're happy and fulfilled in?

I PROMISE you none of your team members have ever, will ever, said "Gee, I'd really love to take this great new job but I'd feel so guilty leaving Anonymous". Not gonna happen.

That company could lay you off tomorrow and never give it a second thought.

What happens if you stay and your team members wind up leaving?

You have a responsibility to yourself (and those in your life effected) to make the best decisions for you.

Is the company you're currently working for the company you want to work for for the rest of your working life? If not, what are you waiting for.

I am not the OP, but I have had the same thoughts as the OP before. Thank you, Joan. Yours is one of the best responses I've ever seen on this site.

You are so welcome! If anyone needs permission to do what's best for you, y'all have it!

The commute alone is enough to look for a new opportunity that offers better balance - Give yourself permission to make the best "business decision" for your future & drop the guilt...Best to You!

I have a roughly 2-hour RT commute 2-4x per week. I can't imagine a 4 hr round trip on a regular basis (although there have been some days one way could take as long as 3 hours depending on weather and traffic)!
