So, I have been casually applying for jobs here and there because I am eager to leave my current employer for a better opportunity with potential to grow. One of the companies I applied for, which was to a job I didn't expect to receive a call for, no less actually reached out to me today.
It's a cs management position which I am looking for--and would be an upgrade from my current position as a supervisor. I do have some hesitancy though. Here's why:
1. My current job will begin giving salary increases in October. I plan to ask for 60k & a currently I'm unsure about the potential employers offerings.
2. I wfh with a schedule I'm allowed to have flexibility in, so long as my work is done EOD.
3. I have a toddler and my husband helps me during the day so that he can sleep for his overnight job. We don't have/not currently seeking daycare and it's just us two with a o help.
4. We wanted to expand our family sometime next year. I'll make 5 years at my job in February...I'd get the maximum maternity leave benefits at current employer.
I'm sure I'm thinking too much but I like to always be prepared and have a plan and right now, I'm unsure.
Any advice is welcome.

I have a spotty job history that includes communications problem (me quitting), fired and rehired by another former employer, bad culture match, and left my career for caregiving.
However, my work performance were excellent. I've been in my current paraprofessional job for four years and it's relatively easy work. My talent is in special education, but at 56, I'm not sure if getting an endorsement for that will be beneficial because of ageism. Any thoughts?

Why do recruiters stick to old, worn- out practices like punishing candidates for loss of work?
In these crazy times of hostile and toxic work environments (a post-Trump free-for-all on behavior; depression, anxiety and suicide at an all-time high), take a beat. This is not the same work world as pre-COVID times. I say, open your mind, then LEAD. Educate your clients.

When do I bring up competing offer?
Company A just extended an offer. It is my second choice. They need an answer by Monday.
I am interviewing with the VP at Company B (first choice) today. I'm thinking it's the last interview.
When do I tell Company B about the offer?
Email them now? During the interview? Later? I'm wondering what to say if they end the interview with "well, we should know more next week"...

What career stage am I at?
As I look for open positions, I'm not sure what career stage I am in or should be looking for. I received my bachelors in finance 9 years ago and started working in the operations side of the industry shortly after. I earned my series 7 and 66. I realized that I enjoyed project work and got my MBA in project management 2 years ago. I began a role as a business analyst in the IT department of the same company almost 3 years ago. Having 8+ years working experience seems mid (especially having been at one company for almost the entire duration), but with the career shift less than 3 years ago seems a little closer to entry level. At this point, I'm not sure how to brand myself or what to look for experience-wise in the job hunt.
