Best time to send an external email (client) to capture the attention of the recipient (s)

Have you experienced a better time to send business emails to get the attention of the recipient. Early am before the business day starts, right before lunch, end of day? Everyone receives so many emails... what is your experience? Thank you!

based on my responses from managers, I had to deal with I would say late in the day, especially if their goals are to produce revenue and spend the day doing just that. often I would see emails at night and although the waiting time can be challenging because you want to move onto to your next responsibility that’s what seem to work in most companies I’ve worked for. however if you put action requested in the subject line, you might get a response sooner

My answer...It depends. You pointed out why emails get lost and ignored and I found that every person has their own rhythm to when they respond to emails (hourly, 3x per day, morning/evening, etc).

I don't know if you're talking about internal or external communication, but having the right subject line that captures the recipient's attention can work well. For instance with clients, my subject might start with, "ACTION REQUIRED" if I need them to act on it. I've worked with clients who have set up this type of protocol with a number of different headers.

great suggestion about Subject Line. PS Edited my post as I was referring to external emails (as you pointed out).

    Thank you!

Agree on the subject line calls to action, I use this aggressively in both internal and external emails

At my organization, the most optimal time to send emails is at the beginning of the week from 10am - 12 noon. It absolutely drives higher open rates.

In today's work culture, I don't find that there is any longer an optimal time. I think you may benefit of learning THEIR specific cadence. IMO.

Nor am I - I was told a long time ago that most successful entrepreneurs are up early and knock their emails out in the morning - it’s worked for me this far and also introduced new habits (going back to bed) hahahaha

sounds interesting.... I may try this... I like the going back to bed idea lol!

I do what others have suggested, highlighting the subject with PLZ REVIEW or PLZ APPROVE or FYI. And most of the time I use Delay Delivery in Outlook to specify when I want it delivered. I choose first thing in the morning most of the time. It works pretty well for me because I'm sending mostly late in the day.
