Some other employees and I found out that we will no longer be employed as funds were ending.

while we are encouraged to apply for other jobs, we were told that our positions were only for one year as if it had already been disclosed to us when we were hired. This was not the case. Everyone was shocked because we were also told that we didn’t have anything to worry about a few months prior. Is this something can be filed with EEOC?

No. There are no guarantees in the US workplace. The EEOC doesn't get involved in layoffs unless they are for an illegal reason (which this is not). Sorry. Good luck in your job hunt.

I don't see, from what you have stated above, that the EEOC should be involved.

EEOC is a dispute investigation resource. There's been no dispute. No business guarantees you a job unless under a negotiated Term in a contract. In those cases, a company must pay you for the Term whether there is work or not.

Your company most likely believed they would be renewed or extended for the work you performed and that work would be allowed to continue but unfortunately that didn't. happen. The economy is not as strong as the media is reporting. A lot of funding is drying up.

I'm sorry things didn't work out. The good thing is at least you will be eligible for unemployment benefits.

    Thanks

I guess the issue I have is the lie. The company said it was disclosed when it was not.

    And that's not EEOC.
