AI Recruiter?

AI Recruiter?

I applied to two different external recruiting sites (they've been around for a long time so I know they're legit) and immediately received a text saying, "Hi, this is Alex, I am a virtual AI recruiter with xxxxxxx. I was hoping to speak with you regarding the xxxxxxxx position you applied for. Feel free to give me a call back when you get a chance, or let me know what time works best for me to call you back. Thanks!" And then I'll get a phone call from the bot.

This has happened on both these sites. Can anyone in recruiting explain what this is?

Yup, it's the unfortunate automation of my profession which is being recast by companies that want to streamline or eliminate human bits of the hiring process. Unless you know how these sites will use your voice and any recordings of you for their hiring purposes know that by using them you are essentially giving them permission to use your likeness and voice for their purposes. I frankly am not a fan of this junk at all and am saddened by the use of these types of bots - (kind of like calling customer service numbers with bots) for such a personal thing as a job search. IMHO think wisely about whether this suits you before forging ahead.

I have had a few Alex interviews and they have not been unpleasant. Alex actually is not bad.
