Email protocol when the owner of the company is included.

Email protocol when the owner of the company is included. Question: When an email is sent to the owner of the company and I am included (not cc'd).. For example, To XXX (the owner) and XXX (me) and then the owner responds....with "We"......etc etc, should I also respond? This scenarios can be a) client followup b) a vendor stating they were out ill and updating us.

Another scenario is I am cc'd on an email to the owner and the email says "PS Hi XXX (me) wasnt sure if you remembered me but cc'd you so I could say hi as well! In this case, would you respond to the vendor?

First scenario, owner has included you as part of the "we" response so you are not required to respond separately. Avoid undermining the owner by staying silent. In the 2nd scenario, you are being addressed separately so you can reply to acknowledge the greeting.

The owner can trump you, and you can't trump the owner, especially as you were the second person listed in the to: line. That's the same as being cc'd.
