Hi,

Hi,

Its been more than a year and I am out of job. I have been trying but do not understand why things are not working out. I am in a different country and I had a job before delivering a baby but the previous company didn't want to pay maternity they ended my contract and since then I have been trying. Although I am keeping my hopes high but sitting at home for more than a year is really tough.

Still trying and keeping my hopes high.

If you are not finding results, you might try posting on some of the online job boards, either the well-known ones or ones in your areas of expertise. I was very fortunate to obtain three interviews that way and the last of the three was successful, with better salary than the previous two and more matched to my current skills. In my case I took a 14-month contract job and did not get benefits, but if you are having a hard time, some money coming in is preferable to none, helps the resume, and you can continue looking while doing the contract job. Some contracts do lead to "full time" jobs - In my case it did not, but 14 months of a good salary really helped with my finances. Also I learned a great deal of additional technology from the experience. Wishing you both the best!

Congrats on the little, but you use the word 'contract' so that's a slippery slope as if that's through an agency and not the company you're doing the work for, that is the grey area. Work with a legal professional. A contract worker is not the same as an exempt/non-exempt employee.
