When filling out the employment section on job applications, I'm running into issues as two of my companies closed. One during the pandemic and the second more recently in a buy out that publicly was called a merger. The result is that the can we contact section appears that I'm hiding something from my time there but there's no where to explain / comments section when in the one, I actually received three promotions. Should I select 'yes' as it would have been fine or 'no' as the companies don't exist? Thank you!

When your company closed, they may have contracted with an HR company to take those calls. Mine did, even though they only close to my branch I have a third party I can contact...

I would select yes and let them figure it out.

Select yes and offer to provide copies of redacted W2s

Thank you and I appreciated your advice. I wasn't sure how to handle the situation as it appears I was trying to hide something but in reality, the companies closed.

Say Yes then put a main phone number. And if they closed and there’s an open field write that.

Companies don't typically contact past employers before they interview you, so you can explain in the interview.

MOst applications that want contact info also want a reason for leaving, so include the company closed there if you can.
