I am a medical provider. I've worked with two excellent drug company reps who were both prior school teachers (one was a math teacher; another taught 4th grade). They are both excellent at what they do, organized, great people skills, and making better money/less stress and more control of their hours as Pharmaceutical drug reps. The companies were smart to hire them and train them in that ONE particular drug that they market. Teachers are generally very organized people who communicate with others well- consider this!

I'm sure you've already been told that instructional design is a perfect next career for teachers. I am both a former teacher and an instructional designer and I wouldn't recommend it, at least right now. There are so many teachers leaving the classroom for instructional design that the job market is becoming oversaturated, making it very difficult for someone without ID experience to get an ID job. My suggestions:

    --Sales, as someone below mentioned.

--Museum education - museums work closely with school systems, so they want people who are familiar with the local school system

    --Academic advisor at a university
