Thoughts? I have worked in IT for 25 years and experienced so many horrible coworkers so this one is just mildly annoying. I started working on a new team at my company 2 months ago so I’m still learning how they work. I have a coworker who expressed to the entire team in a meeting that my 2 questions I asked them this week interrupted their work. This person is a Senior team member who is a lead in their area. They actually are ahead in their assignments so I am confused by the lack of team work. I usually have coworkers willing to take an occasional question especially if they are a lead.

That’s NOT good ,,, type of behaviour will escalate eventually. Seems like they have it out for you. Keep an eye on that. Seems like a very negative person. Asking a question isn’t an issue. As long as it’s not the very same question.

Thanks for the reply! I will keep an eye on it to see if it’s just me that they have it out for or if they behave like this towards other people too.

I would just roll with it and try to be cautious when asking this person for anything. (Check all the documentation first etc.) I had a similar coworker who was more senior and a bristley personality in general. He would get alllllllll the questions and eventually everyone wore him down to the point where he wouldn’t even answer until you told him where you already tried to look for the information first.

Maybe they thought they were questions you should have known the answers to as a 25-year veteran? Maybe they felt that you should have been able to find the answers on your own. Maybe it was how you asked the questions or the timing when you asked them. Were they in the middle of something that you might have interrupted? Were you rude and demanding when you asked? Do you tend to ask a lot of questions that as a "25-year veteran" you should be able to answer yourself or find the answers for?

Vague post about someone being "horrible" but I don't see anything all that horrible about it. Was it rude for them to call you out in a team meeting? Yeah, maybe but I think there is a whole lot more to this situation that what you posted here. Sorry you were so annoyed.
