Taking time away - part 2 (there will be swearing)

Taking time away - part 2 (there will be swearing)

Several weeks ago, I posted that even though I was unhappy with my job, I was struggling with my job search and decided to stop for the summer.

To clarify, nothing has gotten better but worse. I want to quit every day and cry at least once a week. The organization wants to make structural changes, and I’m holding out for that until today.

I went to get a prescription refilled, and I found out my company canceled my prescription at all retail locations but two: their pharmacies and Costco, which requires a membership to get the discount. I would also like to say this was NEVER mentioned to anyone. I had to pay out of pocket for my medication.

FUCK THAT! I work hard for our providers and will work with the disorganization if only to hope things will get better. I’ve already had to give up my doctors because they don’t allow out-of-network care, and now they are taking away where I can get my medicine.

So, I’m starting to look again passively, but I’m looking. NO COMPANY SHOULD EVER TREAT THEIR EMPLOYEES THIS WAY. As they say, it is cheaper to keep her. The same is true with employees.

And this story is why we need nationalized healthcare. Employers aren’t obligated to provide good, if any, healthcare. We are at their mercy. Good luck this place sounds like a nightmare.

In the meantime go to one of their pharmacies. Or join Costco. An annual membership is likely cheaper than your medication. Plus you can then shop at Costco. You can save money on clothes and other things!

    Agreed 100%

Holding out for structural changes while you cry everyday??. That seems like a very strange way to address your mental health and happiness.

Why are you still there? In your situation, I would actively be looking for another job as you sound perfectly miserable. What's keeping you there?

OP: i’ve been looking but not getting any success. When I di get an interview the hiring sees my as the problem.

Our Costco doesn't require a membership to use their pharmacy. I've seen several at the front door just tell them they are going to the pharmacy.

I don't think you need a Costco membership to use the pharmacy. Ask them

I purchase Rx's at Costco all the time and do not have a membership. Don't think it's required at any Costco pharmacy.

to pick up not but if you want the membership price you need the memberhsip per an employee

Canceling your insurance without notice? Ummmm….:Not so sure you can do that.

Maybe your insurance no longer covers your medication? I’d start there…..I don’t know anything about Costco…

You do not need to be a Costco member to use their pharmacy. If they ask to see your membership card at the front door, just tell them you are going to the pharmacy.

Since Costco is one of the appoved pharmacies for your company, you should be entitled to any applicable discounts.

I did not know that an employer could restrict pharmacy options - are you sure this was done by your company and not a "pharmacy benefits managment" company - some companies outsource that.

"Pharmacy benefit manager: A middleman entity that contracts with health insurance plans to develop and administer pharmacy benefits, including negotiating with drug manufacturers to develop the plan's formulary and negotiating with pharmacies to develop the plan's pharmacy network."

OP: I’m not sure but I work for a hospital and as one of the option is their own pharmacy i’m thinking they made the change. However, I was NEVER advise of the change. I’ve checked emails and my app and there is nothing there about the change.

My employer does - but I work for a retail pharmacy chain. And I can only get my medications at that chain (at least, ones I can afford anyway). If I go anywhere else, my insurance won't cover them and I wouldn't be able to afford them.
