Sending out support to my fellow job searchers as companies are sending mass rejection letters today.

Sending out support to my fellow job searchers as companies are sending mass rejection letters today. After not hearing for weeks or months, every time I open my email, there are more automatic rejections. I started feeling down, but decided to put these behind me and focus on 2025.

It's not really mass rejections but more of cleaning up their systems with candidates. This can be a slower time for recruiters so they're taking advantage of this time and realizing, hopefully, how poorly organized they were this past year on communication with candidates.

It's tough out there, but don't give up! Mass rejections are unfortunately common, but they don't define your worth. Focus on your strengths and keep moving forward. You've got this!

I feel your pain. I have been looking for 18 months. I have sent out so many resumes and had some interviews where they ended up hiring in-house. It does get me down but I am going to keep moving forward with my head held up high. Good luck to you I hope we will find a great role in 2025.

I’ve started receiving unemployment benefits after my company laid us off due to insolvency. The agent at the state unemployment office indicated to me that I must know somebody at a company in order to get employed in this competitive market. So I’ve switched my narrowed focus completely to organizations where I have at least marginal connections, myself or through others. That’s my strategy starting in 2025 as I reignite my job search after the holidays. Just like the original poster said, the past is behind us, so let’s all just look forward to a fresh start in this new year as we seek a new role. Best of luck to all job hunters!

Networking is great. Referrals are awesome. But applying absolutely works too. Almost 100% of the positions I've filled in the last 3 years have been from people who either applied or who I sourced.

A small percentage were from networking or referrals. Every company had a referral bonus program in place and I also ask for referrals. The number of referrals that were hires throughout a 20+ year recruiting career is also very small.

If companies were able to fill the majority of their positions by networking, they would not need to employ the teams of recruiters and sourcers and outside agencies who spend all day, every day working to fill their positions.

You're all not alone. I got a rejection email for a job I applied to 2 years ago. I was extremely confused at first.

Please try not to take all the rejections personally. This job market is incredibly impersonal, inhumane, and cruel. News articles claiming jobs are plentiful and hiring is up are not reflected in the reality most of us are living. It's not you, it's these awful systems that have been built up to squeeze the most profit out of people.

You have so much value as a human being besides your resume, your ability to jump through the hoops of a STAR-method interview, your willingness to bend over backwards to impress people who don't think twice about wasting your time.

When the job hunt bs starts to get to you, please know that you aren't the failure, it's this hiring culture that is the failure. Tons of places would be lucky to have you.
