Ghosting anyone?

Ghosting anyone?

Should I consider not hearing back for a week after I was told they would know something early in the week, that I'm being ignored and they've moved on? Recruiters-please set me straight. Thank you!

Definitely not. What you could do is send a note to the person you spoke to last, reinforce your interest in the role. Cite a specific reason you continue to have interest and are a fit. Ask for a revised timeline and let them know that you are amidst other meetings and while those are interesting they are at the top of your list. Let them know if you are no longer being considered you hope they will give you the professional courtesy to let you know sooner vs later. That should do it.

OP here-That's what I did and the response was they would get back to me early this week. Then nada.

Best then to close the chapter, if they come back to life wish them the best or ask for clarification on why the delay. You are owed at least that and should ask for it. Often the messenger - recruiter usually is left internally hanging by the hiring manager who is too busy or just can't make a decision. Generally though this kind of "hanging" is typical when the role is new and they are still calibrating what they want and just can't figure it out, or they are replacing someone who failed in the role and are being over the top cautious about the replacement. Neither is an excuse for lack of communication, but definitely don't take it too personally because it usually has nothing to do with you.

Dealing with a similar thing now. Last they emailed they would call me the next day at specific time and nothing.

Previously, I had reached out several times, there was a response that they would call me, but then they don't. I am not reaching out anymore. I don't consider them seriously considering me.

I wouldn't. Have you checked in with them? Any sort of follow-up from your end at all? I'm currently in an interview process for a position; I have reached out to the recruiter when I hadn't heard back and I understand they are still working through the process. I am an HR manager and while I am not a recruiter, I only participate in interviews as needed, I know that quite often for us, things don't go according to schedule.
