I think it's probably more likely that you aren't asking adequate culture fit questions during the interview process. Your bosses are who they are, the organization is what is, that doesn't mean that you'll always be a match.

Not sure you are attracting them as maybe you were not picking up on red flags in the interviews. I've only truly had one great boss. All the others were "eh". So-so. The interviews went great, thought maybe they were good leaders but when you get to know them and see how they operate it's totally different. If seeking work, in future interviews, see what questions you should be asking (google it) to get examples to weed out the bad management. Truly bad management is everywhere, but I know some are more tolerable.

Yes, if it's a trend in your life, you need to be honest with yourself. It really doest happen all by itself. You actually do play a part.

Now I'm not saying you deserve it or look for it but you have to ask yourself why.

In my 48 years of working all levels early to mid to upper level jobs and job hopping every few years to make more money. I've had 2 managers that I consider bad bosses. But I left quickly when I realized it. One of those times I allowed the company to lay me off because of the nice severance and the other time I resigned with 3 days notice.

Both times I took stock in my part of attracting unhealthy situations and even though they were 20 years apart I learned lessons.

On the flip side I have had a long list of great bosses that I learned from and loved working with. I learned lessons and took credit for those situations as well. I attracted those and to my credit took full responsibility for my joy in working with these great bosses too.
