Looking to transition to a Stock Admin position

Looking to transition to a Stock Admin position

Hello, I've been working in accounting for over 15 years. I have an employment gap of 12 months due to a move to Southern California to become a care giver for a sick relative.

I'm looking to transition from a Senior Accountant position to a Stock Admin opportunity in the Los Angeles area. Any advice on how I can do this without a lot of experience?

"Senior" in a job title and "without a lot of experience" are generally mutually exclusive. Senior roles usually require 5-10 years of experience, depending on the industry and job market at the time you look. You may want to lower your sights unless you have several years of management experience and at least a year of stock admin.

I'm a SENIOR ACCOUNTANT with over 15 years of experience trying to transition to a Stock Admin role. I didn't say I was trying to transition to a Senior Stock Admin role.

I apologize for overlooking that. However, it is essential that you ensure that prospective employers don't make the same mistake I did and dismiss you as overqualified (and potentially desperate). Highlight your education in the new area, even if it is continuing education rather than college work. Make it clear in your objectives that you are attempting to pivot. You might try shifting focus to firms that don't get a lot of applicants, like smaller firms or start-ups. These firms would likely take a chance before the bigger firms.

It would be best if you contacted the National Association of Stock Plan Administrators and joined. https://www.naspp.com/blog/growing-your-career-as-a-stock-plan-administrator

I believe the organization offers a certification:

A "Transitional Membership" is available for $150.
