I need advice...

I need advice... please.

I had a very good 1st interview with a company for a sales role. The hiring manager and I hit it off and made a connection. She said she was going to move me to the 2nd interview and would be back in touch. I sent a thank you note immediately. After a week passed, I sent a follow-up email reiterating my skills, passion for the job, and one point that stood out in my interview to help remind her of me.

I've heard nothing back.

What do I do, wait until 2 weeks after the interview and send a brief email again? Be patient. Or just move on. I never give up but when is it considered overwhelming with follow-up emails? I'm qualified for the role and would be very successful. Of course, I'm still applying and interviewing for other roles.

Thanks for your advice.

You've done your due diligence... I would not send any more emails.

I'd send a brief note again to reiterate...no more than once a week.

My current role took 6w but they said my professionalism showed I wanted the opportunity. They got behind, but I was working and interviewing others. I had time to wait them out plus I wanted the opportunity.

See what happens. Maybe she was out, maybe waiting on management. You never know; good to keep looking as well.

Wait another week and reach out.
Chances are there are other candidates on deck to be eliminated and a layered process to open up a 2nd round of interviews with the3-5 top candidates. So the processes, especially these days in this market, seem to be taking much longer to conclude.

Hang in there, keep your search active and make sure you don't get too ahead of yourself. Take one day at a time and remember to pace yourself and keep up your selfcare to support your longterm plans.

Thank you, I agree 100% with your advice. I have to remember that the hiring process takes a lot longer in the tough job market. I need to be tenacious but professional and continue to email once a week (brief email with pertinent info). Thanks again.

NP. It's hard to know sometimes what to do in this situation. I hope they choose you!
