I was furloughed from my full time job May 22 with the expectation for return in 4 months. After 3 months they reached out to say my furlough period has ended and they wouldn't be bringing me back. They also said my insurance would be ended at the end of August. I lost and don't know how to proceed.

If finances are a concern, try a couple of approaches: First of all, write up a resume highlighting your value to a company's bottom line and have it ready. Then network as well as you can with your friends and acquaintances and see if they know any companies that would appreciate your talents. Meanwhile, post your resume on the usual job boards and perhaps some in your specialty. Doing so resulted in three interviews for me when I did that. Also, consider working contract. I have had contract positions that resulted in stable positions that were even more desirable once a company could see the value add.

If I were you, I would do all of these simultaneously, as you often don't know which will produce results. For more ideas, you may want to explore Andy LaCivita's free materials - He has a lot of innovative approaches to connecting with companies.

    Wishing you the very best!

You must be allowed to keep your insurance as long as you pay for it. It is called COBRA and you can keep your benefits up to 18 months.
