If you have a lot of PTO stored up start taking it.

If you have a lot of PTO stored up start taking it. Companies that go to “unlimited PTO” do so because they want to get rid of that liability. There’s a reason that companies gives PTO - for employees to take time off

Don’t stress out about your job not getting done or a the work that will be there when you get back. It’s worth it.

There may be no stopping this unlimited PTO train but don’t give your company a reason to institute it.

I think many employers may have moved away from that once it was realized that unlimited PTO ain't all it's cracked up to be.

Unlimited PTO is code for "Take as little as possible."

There is a vast difference between companies that offer unlimited PTIO and companies that offer a finite number of days. With the former, the culture needs to support people taking time off by example, provide cross training and support so employees can take their time off and relax knowing mission critical or client facing responsibilities are being handled in their absence.

With the finite number of days scenario, often employees are hoarding PTO so they can take a trip or are anticipating needing time off later in the year. Employees may want and need a day off, but don’t take it.

And accrual policies towards PTO make the later worse!

It's funny when I hear Americans talk about your high taxes and socialism because at least you get something for your taxes.
