I reject 50% of the bullet points my clients give me. Why?
Most job seekers think a great resume is a complete log of everything they’ve done at their job.
When clients hand me their old resumes, they often wonder why I cut out massive chunks of what they considered "hard work." Here is the truth: Hiring managers don't care about your effort; they care about your impact.
If a bullet point explains how busy you were instead of how valuable you were, it gets cut.
* Before the edit: "Managed daily administrative operations and coordinated team schedules." (Tells me you were busy.)
* After the edit: "Streamlined daily operations and reduced scheduling conflicts by 30% for a 15-person team." (Tells me you created value.)
A resume isn't a history lesson. It's a marketing document. If your current resume reads like a daily task log, you’re making the employer do the math; and trust me, they won't.
