Side Gigs?

Side Gigs?

Does anyone have any recommendations for side gigs? For some background, I work full-time and previously had a part-time job at the beginning of the year that lasted 5 months before the burnout crept in. Like many others, inflation is kicking my butt and my full-time doesn't want to budge much on salary increases for my position.

For anyone that may ask, I promise I am not living above my means. The full-time job was more than enough 2 years ago when I started. Now I'm just trying to find ways to not have to work 75 hours a week to make a living.

Thanks!

I had the same question about a week ago. State employees rarely see increases so it's nice to have a side hustle. Any pointers others out there can provide please do! And yes, inflation is hurting my pocketbook, be it groceries, a haircut, gas, etc.

holiday hiring is about to start, there should be plenty of places to apply to and for you to curate your availability.

I'm all for side hustles! It depends on what you want to do. Some people take paid surveys for a living to make income or pick up a part-time like instacart! It really just depends on what you want to do.

In the past, I've been an SEO freelancer, digital producer, publicist, writer, etc....mainly took the skills I already have and starting getting clients. I haven't had a side hustle since 2021 (paused it since I got a full-time). I've also been looking at contract/part-time work for 1) more income 2) to work toward becoming self-employed 100%. I also just like having variety in my day! It keeps me on my toes to have different projects in the mix.

I would say think of your current hobbies: could any of those become a side hustle? Like are you good at floral arrangements, party planning, caterer/personal chef, balloon designer, walking dogs, charcuterie maker,

house sitter, plant sitter, babysitter (this never gets old!), detailing cars, virtual assistant, writer, editor, sound producer, video maker, content creator, social media freelancer, etc?

I'd say pick something that you actually like to do so it doesn't feel like work. It just helps balance the mental /workload. Since you're still recovering from burnout, I'd also be mindful of just how much you want to put into this at first. Definitely start small with your hours and then grow as you feel comfy.

If you're still unsure what to do, ask your friends/family what you're naturally good at and see if that sparks any ideas. You'd be surprised how others view you and your superpowers.

Good luck to you! Welcome to side hustle land.
