Have not been on this post for a little while and was wanting some ideas and suggestions. Last year I was hired at my local hospital as a customer service representative in patient financial services. Well my year has came and I am looking to move around possibly in my same department. I did mention this to my supervisor about job shadowing and she thought maybe starting in follow-up, keep in mind my area in patient financial services as we bill for patient hospital services. I am currently taking a medical billing and coding course online but customer service side is wearing me out as there are three of us in a cubicle and the phone calls and other tasks are outrageous at times. I am just tired of customer service and heavy phones. I just started training on getting mail another task for customer service and the person who is doing it is retiring. I should have been trained. Mail is boring and wearing me out. Seems like my supervisor is not moving fast enough with me moving around to job shadow. I am about ready to apply for other positions outside of the hospital as I have gained knowledge of the billing process. Feel like they do not want me to explore other options.

Apply within the company and outside.

I may ask for more resources. Chat with any department that interests you. Put a bug out there to catch wind of opportunities.

They might need you to stay put for awhile. Your priorities are not always management's priorities. You wanting to move from a very busy desk is inconvenient and creates a backlog for the operation. These are not your problem. I would start applying elsewhere.
