I have an interview in 20 mins with an AI named Alex. This should be interesting. I guess they can't afford to hire a real recruiter. Pray for me. I'll let you know how it goes!

Xoxo

Wishing you the best of luck!!

Hope it goes well for you! (and sorry...I had to laugh about the AI being named Alex. We are living in weird times!)

Hope it went well for you.

As someone who provides the scripts, prompts, and such for AI agents like Alex, best of luck. I have spent the last several weeks trying to perfect Amanda, Megan, and Frank Lloyd. And I am still debugging and trying to teach Amanda not to be so pushy..........Good luck. And Frank Lloyd, my architect agent is still having problems developing a connection. PS: I'm not kidding.......

Okay, this is illuminating and your delivery gave me a chuckle.

You laugh but yesterday it was back to the drawing board for me and Amanda, our inbound customer service AI BOT......Amanda was really getting on some customer's nerves. So I renamed her Olivia and gave her a Yorkshire,UK accent. Things were going well until Marketing released some goofy ad out on Facebook. And I then I remembered I had not told Olivia how to handle irrelevant questions and inquiries. Next thing I know the customer is screaming at Olivia! Oh boy...So I redid Olivia this morning and sent her out again....PS: this is real....when people tell you AI is going to take your job, better think twice. Now it is back to work on Frank Lloyd, my AI Architect BOT. 2 weeks of this. UGH.At least, Olivia is doing OK...

Your work sounds fascinating! How did you get this role? I ask because this is the kind of work I'd like to do. I have been applying for a few "data annotator" positions but so far haven't heard back . . .

I am so fascinated by how AI is developed... I started using AI for mainly research (I'm in compliance) and fine tuning presentations, documents, resumes, excel files/data. I fully recognize I'm not utilizing it to its max potential, but how a human can code a program to "learn" from various inputs is just amazing to me. Also, love the Frank Lloyd agent name. ;)

  9. Barbara

Very funny but probably not too far from the truth. Especially Amanda being pushy!

  10. Katherine Akbar

    Hilarious. Thanks.

This all sounds ominous and a bit scary, but it seems it's where we're headed in the corporate world. AI is a great tool. I use it for research purposes. But I firmly believe that it will never outpace or replace a true human connection.

I would be interested to know what Alex was evaluating and what questions he was asking (or was it a she?) Yes/no questions? Short answer? Does it assess your accent or inflection? If it is collecting personal information such as birthdate or SSN, hopefully, you passed on the question, as that would be a huge red flag. How well did you research this company?

  13. Anonymous

It asks questions like a real person and includes specific questions around what's in your resume. It literally is just taking notes while responding to your answers. Lord only knows what the "screening criteria" is that's being used.

  14. Ayian

No, they can afford to. They just don't think it's profitable to pay someone to do that job. I would be very wary of what else they don't think it's profitable to pay for.

    Great insight

There was already another post on this on 12.14. We do not know how this recorded information will be used. I did one "interview" with Alex. I will not do another one.

  17. Anonymous

My phone blocks all robocalls, I was unable to connect with my AI “recruiter “ and let it know the situation via email (original contact) and it said it would put me forward…went dark. smh

  18. Anonymous

    Insanity

  19. Boopsa

    Why?

  20. Anonymous

Because we do not know how this recorded information will be used. I found the experience dehumanizing and a joke. It's not a genuine interaction nor assessment.

  21. Kim W.

    I had one this week.

  22. Wendy Carranza

Dear God, I thought the process where you have to film yourself answering questions with no human interaction was bad. This is almost worse! How did it go?

  23. Kim Pfeiffer

Just when we thought the hiring process couldn't go lower, we find out there's an entire parking garage below that level.

  24. Michele LaCagnina

When that parking garage fills up, they'll start digging again.

  25. Michele LaCagnina

Good grief. Have your AI talk to their AI to determine if you even want the job.

  26. Anonymous

Good quality snark here, I love it.

  27. Debbie Cree

I did one of those yesterday. Different for sure. They definitley cannot get a sense of who I am that way. At some point you need to connect with a human.

  28. Anonymous

I would refuse to do an interview with an AI, frankly. Red flag.

  29. Bunmi Afolabi

I do believe I know this company and its one a lot of us shop at. Did one of those as well and Alex le me know I wasn't chosen about a week after. At least he didn't ghost me lol. I hope it went well.

  30. Cathy Morrison

Seems to be the norm now. I've had a few. I think it’s like a more efficient way of the talent recruiter 15 min screening calls.

  31. Terri Archer

How did it go? The one I had would cut me off if I paused for 2seconds.
