Advice on being singled out as the only female in a male-dominated team (automotive industry). I, a junior analyst, was recently moved to a corner office, getting isolated from my team and the rest of the department. Manager now only invites two other newly hired senior analysts out for lunch/dinner. My position is getting phased out and I’m training other senior analyst to “help” out with my current responsibilities. I sense a layoff coming, already looking for new opportunities but I’m having a hard time coping with the new changes. I feel very lonely at work, having sat away from the rest of everyone I previously interact with in my department. I’m struggling with resentment for my current manager and feel blindsided with the news.

Though this may feel uncomfortable and the changes bother you, focus all of your positive energy on finding a new job. It’s unfortunate and sounds like it wasn’t handled well, did you talk with your manager to confirm you are being phased out? That may at least give you closure. But honestly if you are not being utilized at your full potential there are other companies who would love to have you. Look at PwC. Keep us posted!
