Hi,

Hi,

I wanted to get some other perspectives from anyone that has become a mum and feels like they need to/want to take a step back in their career? I don't know if my experience is unusual or if this is a common thing that happens. I have a very limited village, so any illness or issue means I have to take time off work etc. and progressing in my career in a high stress environment doesn't feel sustainable alongside the home life pressure. Is anyone willing to share their experiences?

I am in a similar position ! Also, the power pause by Neha Ruch is a GREAT book for where you are at right now. She describes stepping back from your career to lean into family life as just a chapter. It's been very helpful for me. She has alot on Instagram too.

Since becoming a mom (x2) I am finding myself prioritizing being home as much as I can be with my 2 little ones and being very present. I am someone who is highly ambitious but I have really been sitting with the fact that my kids will only be little once, I'll only be there mom when they are this age once, and I want to soak it all up - hard days and all. For me, this looks like working a remote job that I have been in for awhile and can do without insane demand/stress vs getting a higher level role I can definitely do but having to commute, get additional childcare, and having a more stressful job.
