I am in the same situation for 1 year and half now. I am asking myself if I work in a new company how sure I am that I will not encounter this kind of toxic people? At least here so far I like what I am doing and who knows maybe she will leave before you or you will eventually the out how to deal with this person or with this gang of bullies.

    It could be the industry or role expectations too. I'm an executive assistant but I shy away from roles that include anything related to being a personal assistant. That raises a red flag for me, I will take care of you in a business sense but not an emotional or care giving way. I've had a few roles devolve into this and it's not what I want to do. Saw a job position looking for someone to remind them to eat and maintain their emotional balance and I said no way, and moved on.

    Everyone has their gifts. Like you being a personal assistant is my personal nightmare. I so admire EAs that can do it.

    Yes on self-reflection. As the cycle of toxicity could be coming from enabling bad behaviour. There is the expression to be careful what we tolerate. Otherwise we are teaching people how to treat us.
