Shooting from the hip..... my POV

Shooting from the hip..... my POV

Subcontractor for a small consulting firm. Owner of the firm has a lack of engagement with one of the clients for which I provide consulting services. I expressed to her this was impacting the project and the relationship. New Leadership was brought into this client. Our relationship with the previous Leadership was excellent and I advised she needs to engage with new Leadership

Today, the client sent an email to me regarding a Service Provider for which they received a Suspension of Service Notice for non-payment of services. The firm for which I am subcontracting does not manage this Service Provider. I responded to the client about the type of service as he was not familiar with it. He thanked me and said he needed to see who handles the account within his firm and why payment has not been made.

I then advised the owner of the Firm for which I am employed. She immediately said “ Oh I have to call them” I told it was “Taken care of”… but she felt this was her an opportune time to re-engage and to show she has a sense of urgency. She called and sent an email.... with no response.

My thought is her call/email to the client was unnecessary and her re-engagement with Leadership should have been handled with different topics for discussion.

Your thoughts please? Thank you!

She is the boss and can do what she wants, whether you agree that it is the correct course or not. Move on to issues that you can control not worry about past behaviours displayed by people you have no control over. Unless this impacts you and how you are perceived in that case a private non confrontational meeting to explain the impact the behaviour is having. If it doesn't change then time to move on.

Since the relationship is new and needs some tlc to get off on the right foot. It your boss feels the account is worth maintaining, perhaps you and your boss need to meet with the account together and establish a rapport. You must step behind your boss and show support as this is more protocol and chain of command. You are not the Owner, you are the support.

your input makes sense.!!... my thought was it was a trivial issue presented by the client and resolved by me. More important topics for her to reengage the client with. Understand your point.
