I'm feeling under the weather and have an upcoming interview scheduled. It's with an in-house recruiter via video, so I'm assuming it won't be the most challenging part of the process. I'm torn between pushing through and potentially rescheduling, since I know companies often dislike delays and I’m unsure where they are in the hiring timeline. Not sure if I should try to wing it or risk possibly losing the opportunity by asking to change the date.

Honestly it depends what "under the weather" is. If you're throwing up and unable to function that's one thing, if it's a cold that you can take some meds for and power through that's another. As a former recruiter, it shouldn't be a problem to reschedule but do be aware that it may move up other candidates before you and if some of them are stellar they may want to move forward with them while still waiting to have your video screen/interview. Hope you feel better soon!

It all depends on you level of illness.

Unless it's vomiting/diarrhea or can't stop coughing/lost your voice/l and/or look obviously sick, I would go ahead and do the video call. A little makeup and maybe some tea with lemon will get you through. If you postpone the call, you risk them finding someone else, but if you're so sick that you can't speak enthusiastically or look alarming, then postponing is probably the best bet. Hope you feel better soon!

It depends. If it is same day don't reschedule but do let them know at the top of the conversation that you are unwell and will do your best. If it is within 48 hours same. If it is longer than that let them know you are sick (blame covid or whatever) and ask for a kind rescheduling if you can but do provide alternate dates.

As a potential other option start the zoom call with your camera off and let them know it is because you are sick. Have a tissue handy and that should help the situation. If you truly do not think you can be your best interviewee then move the timing no matter what.

Unless you are on the couch with the flu, I would fight through it. I would also say on the interview, im a little under the weather but this opportunity is so important to me, so here I am!
