   If you are actually over that department and she is asking, I'm not sure why you would hesitate to answer. You are not there to be liked, especially if you are over people. You are to be fair, and treat people equally and appropriately deal with issues as they come up, but work is not meant to be a popularity contest.

   Leave it but watch the chat. If it gets aggressive, copy the thread and send to HR. If this person who asked is in your company she should just google you. If not, let it go. As you climb, so does your unpopularity. The higher you are the more of a target you are. It's common. Quite frankly if it's something that affects your department, go to HR for guidance. Now on to your comment about a prior incident, you didn't expand. So, with that, if something prior happened that made others not like something you said or did, whatever you do, don't go into battle on an app. Go to battle with your HR folks and let them know what is being said and that it's very distracting. Stay quiet, be stealth and go to the right people to resolve the issue.
