Weird that this wasn’t the first thing before the interview. What else did they neglect to tell you. Relocating in my experience to some place you don’t know or have a burning desire to move to isn’t usually a good idea. Once you get there and find out it’s not a fit what do you do? I’d investigate thoroughly and get the full move package in writing and continue your job search. Good luck!

Sort of a bait and switch

Sounds like you have approached a crossroads, but are not stuck there. This job is no longer as great a fit with more information about it. Take this as a sign. That is a pretty big detail to miss in a job description.

I get it, but if that's what they need you need to decide one way or the other. This may not BE the one, then.

Ask if it would be ok to remote initially prior to relocating. TN is beautiful and has a lot to offer. People who relo have a better chance of being placed. Most companies seek local candidates these days. Go for it and consider this as a learning experience in your next journey!

If you do not want to relocate to Tennessee, take yourself out of the running and keep in touch with the company about any openings in better locations.

But you might want to research Tennessee first and see if it is truly a deal-breaker.
