I”m about to start a new job as an APP in healthcare, with 14 years experience. I’m age 59. I’m exploring the idea of hiring a professional coach who can guide me on maintaining work/life balance, taking care of myself as well as I take care of my patients. Any ideas or resources?

I'm 59 too. Have you thought of completing a vision board? I did one at the beginning of the year. It hangs in my home. Every time I think of work, I glance up at it and it reminds me of me. Not work, not anyone else but me. Maybe a life coach could help and help you also refocus on your needs and not your clients/patients.

OP here - wow, what a great idea, thank you for replying! Can you give me some examples of what to put on a vision board?

Oh it can be anything that inspires you. Get a hard white board, a glue stick and lots of magazines. See if you have neighbors, friends or colleagues who are willing to give them to you if they have some to get rid of. I get inspired by words and pictures that represent my interests, my hopes and dreams. Words to remind me like RELAX, Ambition, Yoga, anything that tells a story for you. And pictures that inspire me too like gardening or a beautiful dream porch. Or write on it aspirations, reminders, truly anything that brings a heightened level of awareness for you.

You bet! Also, if you go to coach connect at the top of the screen, FGB has built in coaches that you can consider. My next phase in my work journey may be a life coach. I have years of experiences and love to uplift people. And help others who are finding themselves stuck. The vision board was cathartic for me. And can be a great tool for your patients too. :-)

Geez, I didn’t even see the coach connect tab. Thank you! Good luck to you!

Yes it’s under the 3 bars top left of the screen. Good luck to you as well!

I would tap into therapy. That will address your unique situation, past and your challenges. You want a tailored fit.

OP here - also a great idea that I’ve been considering. I’m not in crisis, which is the only time in my past that I’ve sought therapy (30 years ago.) Was thinking of coaching first, if I can find a fit, and if that surfaces things or fails to address my needs, then would seek out therapy. Would love to hear other thoughts on this! Thank you for your reply!
